WHAT WE BELIEVE & WHY

With over a decade of experience in guiding students and young adults through successful career and educational transitions, I have gained important strategic insights into what is important to focus on. Understanding the curriculum, the job market landscape, and potential earning prospects are all important components in the decision making process. As a Career Advisor at the University of Guelph, I have had the privilege to work with students across diverse disciplines such as arts, sciences, engineering, computing, and business. This hands-on involvement has further enriched my understanding and ability to provide tailored guidance. Here’s a little more about what I believe and a few of my credentials:

  • Everyone deserves to enjoy and feel fulfilled in their work
  • Success comes from getting out of your head and taking small steps from the heart
  • We all need to dream a little bigger
  • Adult Education Certificate, Western University
  • Career Development Post-Graduate Certificate, Conestoga College
  • Bachelor of Arts, Wilfrid Laurier University

WORK WITH ME

Have you ever been asked a version of the question, “What do you want to do when you grow up?” Most of you won’t have an answer. That is completely okay. We’re all still figuring it out.

Deciding on a career path is not a quick decision. It is about finding activities you are interested in and doing more of them.
Your career path will unfold as you try things out and experiment with them.

As your guide, my role is to take you through a step by step career development process. Together we will explore your interests, strengths, and hopes, providing clarity on the person you envision becoming in the world.

you

What is your unique story? Through meaningful conversations and engaging activities we will learn about situations that bring out the best in you. These experiences and qualities are like pieces of a puzzle. Together, we will piece together this puzzle, allowing us to discover not only what you truly enjoy but also excel in.

Options

What careers or educational programs have piqued your curiousity?  We’ll work together to find great options for you.

Experiment

How can you try these options out? Visit campus open houses, have career chats, meet with current students and faculty, what would you like to try? Now is the fun yet challenging phase. You want to do your research to get a better understanding of what options feel right to you. During this phase it is important to stay open, you will likely be surprised at how some of your initial thoughts change as you gather insights and information. Until this step is complete it’s really hard to know what the right decision for you will be.

Decide
What career field(s) and educational programs are the best choices for you right now? This is where it all comes together. Based on what we know about you, we’ll look at your favourite options keeping in mind your academic ability and current economic realities. Making life decisions are difficult, but at this point we’ve done our work to ensure you are as confident as can be in your decision.
Intention

How are you going to move forward intentionally to pursue this educational pathway or career? At this point in the process, my aim is for you to be excited about your future, so you are ready to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. We will create small steps you can take to make progress.
